This specimen is the Northern Ireland version of the four-coin commemorative series, identified by the flag of Northern Ireland within the circular emblem on the reverse. The coin is constructed with a nickel-brass outer ring and a cupro-nickel inner core. The obverse features the fourth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley (IRB), surrounded by the Latin legend ELIZABETH II DEI GRA REG FID DEF. The reverse, designed by Roger Kneebone (RK), displays a stylized athlete with a banner and the denomination £2. The outer ring is inscribed XVII COMMONWEALTH GAMES 2002. Circulated. The coin exhibits numerous surface contact marks, hairlines, and scratches consistent with handling and time in circulation. There is notable golden-brown toning and oxidation on the nickel-brass outer ring, most prominent at the 12 o\'clock position on both the obverse and reverse faces. The cupro-nickel core shows moderate dulling and surface wear.
