This lot comprises an assortment of masonry and plastering hand tools contained within a mid-twentieth-century hard-shell suitcase. The suitcase is manufactured by Monarch and features a two-tone exterior in textured blue and off-white synthetic material over a rigid frame. It is fitted with metal latches and hinges. A red and silver oval badge on the exterior is marked MONARCH with MADE IN ENGLAND in smaller lettering. The interior is lined with a blue, brown, and white plaid fabric with a gathered storage pocket. The assortment of tools includes various trowels of different shapes, including pointing and gauging trowels, and a larger rectangular finishing trowel. The tools consist of steel blades with turned wooden handles.
Condition report:
The suitcase shows external scuffing, surface marks, and staining consistent with age and utility use. The interior fabric appears largely intact but shows light soiling. The tools are heavily used, with the metal blades exhibiting significant surface oxidation and rust. The wooden handles show wear, grime, and some cracking consistent with trade use.
