A Guernsey silver proof one pound coin, issued in 1996 to commemorate the 70th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. The obverse features a right-facing portrait of the Queen, the Guernsey coat of arms, and a depiction of Castle Cornet with a sailing ship. The legend reads VIVAT REGINA ELIZABETHA, the dates 1926 and 1996, and the denomination ONE POUND. This coin is struck to a proof finish, showing mirrored fields and frosted relief elements. It is presented in a clear plastic capsule with the accompanying paper Certificate of Authenticity. This commemorative issue had a mintage of 10,000 coins.
Condition report:
Uncirculated proof. The surfaces are free from visible handling marks, hairlines, or toning. The capsule and certificate are in good order.
