A set of proof coins issued by the Royal Mint for the year 1999. The collection is centred around a five-pound commemorative crown struck in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, featuring the dates 1961-1997. The set also includes a bimetallic two-pound coin, a fifty-pence coin, a one-pound coin featuring a lion rampant, and standard circulating denominations consisting of a twenty pence, ten pence, five pence, two pence, and one penny. Included in the display is a rectangular metal plaque inscribed with the royal cypher Elizabeth R and the date 1999. The items are housed in a blue folding presentation case with a black insert and are accompanied by a descriptive purple brochure titled Embracing the Traditions of Craftsmanship, Heritage and Splendour.
Condition report:
The coins are in Proof condition, displaying frosted relief designs against mirror-like fields. They remain protected within a transparent plastic housing. The presentation case and brochure appear in good order with only minor evidence of handling.
