This lot comprises two pieces of vintage costume jewellery. The first is an oval cameo brooch featuring a classical relief profile of a woman in a cream colour, set against a mottled reddish-orange ground. The cameo is likely of moulded resin construction and is housed within an ornate, multi-tiered gold-tone metal frame with concentric borders of textured foliate patterns and rope-twist detailing. The second item is a large ribbon-style bow brooch with two loops and trailing tails. The gold-tone metal surface displays a decorative textured basketweave finish, with the borders accented by small, inset faux pearls. The reverse of the bow brooch features a horizontal pin stem and a small rectangular maker’s mark or cartouche, although the characters are not clearly legible.
Condition report:
The items are in overall fair to good vintage condition. The cameo brooch shows wear to the gold-tone finish on the high points of the frame, revealing a darker base metal, and minor surface scuffing to the cameo insert. The bow brooch is missing at least one faux pearl from the upper border of the right-hand loop and exhibits surface tarnishing and wear to the gold plating, particularly on the reverse.
