A collection of philatelic items from the Isle of Man issued in 1982 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Tourist Trophy (TT) motorcycle races. The lot consists of large-format illustrated commemorative cards and individual stamps. The designs, credited to J.H. Nicholson RI, depict notable racers including Charlie Collier, Mike Hailwood, Jimmie Simpson, Jock Taylor with Benga Johansson, and Freddie Dixon. The items feature denominations of 9p, 10p, 24p, 26p, and 29p. Printing was executed by Questa using multicoloured lithography, and stamps feature the royal cypher of Elizabeth II. Several items bear circular date stamp (CDS) cancellations from the Douglas, Isle of Man post office, dated 1 June 1982, marking the first day of issue. Reference numbers include Stanley Gibbons SG 221-225 and Michel 208-212.
Condition report:
The collection appears to be in fine to very fine condition. It includes both mint never hinged stamps and items with light, clear circular date stamp first day of issue cancellations. Perforations are intact across all visible examples, and centring is generally very fine. There are no visible thins, creases, or surface abrasions on the cards or stamps.
