A large oak dresser in the Jacobean Revival style, constructed from dark-stained oak with a prominent grain. The upper section features an open plate rack with three shelves, each fitted with notched rails for display, and is topped with a decorative cornice featuring a repeating carved thumbnail motif. The lower base section is configured with three centrally arranged drawers flanked by two single-door cupboards. The dresser is decorated throughout with geometric moulded panelling. The central panels of the cupboard doors exhibit high-relief heraldic carvings featuring a central shield flanked by mythical creatures, surrounded by oak leaves and acorns. Carved scrolls within these relief panels bear the Latin motto Fide et Constans. The piece is fitted with circular metal ring-pull drop handles on the drawers and cupboard doors, and features external butterfly-style hinges. This item is characteristic of high-quality mid-20th-century British reproduction furniture in the style of makers such as Wood Bros or Jaycee.
Condition report:
The dresser appears in good overall condition, showing typical surface wear, minor scuffs, and signs of use consistent with its age. The finish remains rich and consistent across the piece.
