Description
A German stoneware beer stein featuring high-relief decoration and a deep cobalt blue glaze. The central rectangular panel depicts a municipal building with a clock tower, identified by the transcription Ruhpolding / Obb. in the lower section, referring to the town in Upper Bavaria. The body is decorated with moulded edelweiss flowers, an alpine chalet, and evergreen trees. The handle is shaped to resemble a textured tree branch. The piece is fitted with a hinged, domed metal lid with decorative foliate banding and a pointed finial. Based on visual characteristics and market consensus, this item is attributed to West German manufacturers such as Gerz.
