Description

A mid-20th-century British mechanical mantel clock produced by the Perivale Clock Manufacturing Co. Ltd. under the trade name Anvil. The clock is housed in a stained wooden case, likely oak, featuring a curved Napoleon hat style top and a stepped, moulded base. The silvered dial displays black Arabic numerals and is marked Made in Great Britain at the 6 o’clock position. The dial face includes two adjustment levers for Slow/Fast and Chime/Silent. The eight-day mechanical three-train movement is equipped with a pendulum and strikes on five internal chime rods, typically indicating a Westminster chime. Three winding apertures are present on the dial face for the time, strike, and chime trains. An original paper label bearing the Anvil brand name is affixed to the interior of the rear door.

Condition report:

The movement is untested and the clock is offered for parts or restoration. No winding key is present. The wooden case exhibits minor surface wear, scuffs, and marks consistent with age and use.
