Description
This Royal Mail philatelic numismatic cover (PNC) is a commemorative souvenir sheet issued for the countdown to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The item consists of a printed card sheet titled The final push to the line, featuring a monochrome photographic background of wheelchair racers. It contains a block of stamps with 1st class denominations depicting various sports including sailing, athletics, volleyball, wheelchair rugby, wheelchair tennis, fencing, gymnastics, triathlon, and handball. Each stamp is cancelled with a circular date stamp (CDS) inscribed Countdown to London Stratford E15 27.7.2011. Inset into the lower right of the sheet is a silver-coloured commemorative medal depicting a stylized cyclist with the text Countdown 2011 XXX Olympiad. The sheet is a limited edition, identified as number 01913, and bears the Royal Mail Tallents House, Edinburgh address. This issue was produced by Royal Mail to mark the one-year countdown to the opening of the XXX Olympiad.
Condition report:
The stamps are well-centred with intact perforations. The cancellations are clear and do not obscure the primary designs. The sheet and inset medal are presented in a clear protective sleeve. No visible signs of foxing, creasing, or surface wear are present.
