Description
A collection of British and British Colonial coinage, predominantly struck in silver. The group includes a British India One Rupee dated 1862 with a floral wreath reverse and a British silver fourpence dated 1843 featuring a seated Britannia reverse. Other denominations present include sixpences and threepences. Obverses feature portraits of Queen Victoria in young, jubilee, and veiled head variations, as well as Edward VII and George V. Notable items include a large, heavily worn silver-coloured disk with a central circular stamp depicting the Victoria Regina VR cypher surmounted by a crown, and a silver disk engraved with the initials MH. Several pieces have been modified with circular piercings.
Condition report:
Coins are in circulated condition, ranging from poor to fine. Visible wear includes heavy smoothing of high points, surface scratches, and edge knocks. Several examples display dark atmospheric toning. Multiple coins have been pierced with holes for use as jewellery or pendants.
