Lot 1:
Description
A set of three graduated baluster-shaped jugs manufactured by KLM, Staffordshire, England. The pieces are crafted from glazed earthenware and feature flared, scalloped rims and ornate scrolled handles. Each jug is decorated with a transfer-printed pastoral vignette depicting romanticised figures in a landscape. The bodies are finished with a graduated green airbrushed ground fading to a cream centre. The rims and handles are accented with heavy gilding. The base of the jugs features the manufacturer mark consisting of the script letters KLM enclosed within curved brackets, with Staffordshire England printed below.
Largest: 15 cm
Medium: 13 cm
Smallest: 11 cm.
Condition report:
The set shows significant fine crazing to the glaze throughout, particularly visible on the undersides. There is visible wear and thinning to the gilding on the handles and rims consistent with age and use. No chips or cracks are evident.
