Description

A collection of British numismatic items and related commemoratives presented within a rectangular white-metal box. The numismatic component includes an Elizabeth II 1980 commemorative crown for the Queen Mother’s 80th birthday, a George VI half crown bearing the legend FID DEF IND IMP, an Elizabeth II 1953 two-shilling coin, and a 1932 George V bronze halfpenny. The lot further comprises an oval commemorative plaque featuring a colour portrait of Prince Charles, inscribed TO COMMEMORATE THE MARRIAGE OF THE PRINCE OF WALES AND LADY DIANA SPENCER 29TH JULY 1981. Additional items include a small white-metal decorative spoon with a terminal in the form of a cast figure and a fine-link metal chain. The storage box features a relief-decorated lid depicting a medieval hunting scene with blue enamel-style accents. The 1953 two-shilling coin was issued to mark the coronation year of Elizabeth II.


Condition report:

The coins exhibit various states of preservation, showing circulated wear, heavy toning, surface oxidation, and instances of verdigris. The commemorative plaque displays significant surface spotting and discolouration to the portrait. The white-metal box shows significant wear, tarnish, and loss to the decorative finish. The spoon and chain show surface tarnish.
