Description
A collection of international base metal coins presented in a rectangular brown mottled plastic case. The lid of the case features a raised oval plaque with the script inscription Cigarettes. The numismatic lot includes several issuers and denominations, notably: FR cupro-nickel 5 Francs dated 1992 and brass 20 Centimes dated 1984 inscribed LIBERTE EGALITE FRATERNITE; ES cupro-nickel Juan Carlos I 50 Pesetas and 25 Pesetas inscribed REY DE ESPANA; IE cupro-nickel coinage dated 1995 inscribed EIRE; UK cupro-nickel Elizabeth II coinage; a US copper-plated zinc Lincoln cent dated 1999; and an IT bimetallic coin. The collection comprises various compositions including cupro-nickel, brass, copper-plated zinc, and bimetallic alloys. Most European issues represent the final decades of national currency circulation prior to the adoption of the Euro.
Condition report:
The coins are in circulated condition with visible wear on high points and surface contact marks. Localised verdigris and oxidation are present, particularly on the Spanish issues. The plastic case shows surface scuffing and accumulation of dust.
