Description
A collection of coins issued by the Royal Mint as the United Kingdom Proof Coin Collection for 1986. The set comprises denominations including a gold-coloured commemorative 2 pounds coin with a thistle and wreath reverse, a gold-coloured 1 pound coin, a silver-coloured 50 pence, a silver-coloured 20 pence, a silver-coloured 10 pence, a silver-coloured 5 pence, a copper-coloured 2 pence, and a copper-coloured 1 penny. The coins feature reverse designs including Britannia on the 50 pence, a crowned rose on the 20 pence, a crowned lion on the 10 pence, a crowned thistle on the 5 pence, the Prince of Wales feathers on the 2 pence, and a crowned portcullis on the 1 penny. The coins are struck to proof standard with mirrored fields and frosted relief. The set is housed in a clear plastic case within a dark blue presentation folder and includes a rectangular plaque inscribed Elizabeth R 1986 and an official Royal Mint certificate of authenticity.
