Description

A collection of three UK Royal Mint coin sets comprising one pre-decimal and two decimal issues. The first is a 1970 Coinage of Great Britain and Northern Ireland proof set, housed in the original purple folder with gold-tone lettering. This set contains eight pre-decimal denominations: Halfcrown, Florin, English Shilling, Scottish Shilling, Sixpence, Threepence, Penny, and Halfpenny, alongside a rectangular copper-alloy Royal Mint medallion. The second is a 1971 The Decimal Coinage of Great Britain and Northern Ireland proof set in a black folder with silver-tone dot-patterned lettering. The third is a decimal set presented in a clear plastic case with a black insert. Both decimal sets contain six denominations: 50p, 10p, 5p, 2p, 1p, and 1/2p. Obverses feature the Arnold Machin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, while decimal reverses include the Britannia, crowned lion, crowned thistle, Prince of Wales feathers, crowned portcullis, and Royal Crown designs, all bearing the New Pence inscription. The 1970 set represents the final proof issue of the pre-decimal era.

Condition report:
