Description

A mid-20th century intercommunication station manufactured by Dictograph. The unit is constructed with a dark-finished wooden cabinet and features a black Bakelite handset resting on a moulded cradle. The front-facing control panel contains six toggle switches, five of which are black and one of which is finished with a red tip. The panel includes two rows of small windows for nameplates, with visible labels for MR CAMPBELL, MR LEES, SECY TYPISTS, and RING. A metal identification plate marked DICTOGRAPH is mounted above the switchgear. The handset is connected to the base via a black fabric-wrapped cord.

Condition report:

The wooden casing displays visible signs of age and wear, including significant scuffing, scratches, and loss of finish to the edges and top. The fabric-wrapped cord shows fraying at the point of connection to the handset. The Bakelite components and metal panel show minor surface abrasions consistent with regular use.
