Description
A French wall-mounted magneto telephone, Model 1911, manufactured by Societe Le Materiel Telephonique, Paris. The instrument features a rectangular polished wood case with finger-jointed corners and a side-mounted manual winding crank. A brass identification plaque is fixed to the upper surface, inscribed PROPRIETE DE L ETAT, MARCHE DU 6 OCTOBRE 1914, APPLIQUE MURALE POUR COMBINE AVEC APPEL MAGNETIQUE, MODELE 1911 NO 1489. The apparatus includes a chrome-plated handset with a fluted black handle and a secondary circular metal receiver suspended from a side hook. The components are connected via fabric-bound and rubber-coated wiring.
Condition report:
The wooden housing exhibits surface wear, scuffing, and minor scratches consistent with age and historical use. Metal components show light patination and tarnishing throughout. The fabric-bound wiring displays age-related wear and minor fraying to the outer casing.
