Description
A collection of several hundred vintage postcards dating from the early to mid-20th century, primarily featuring United Kingdom topographical and landscape subjects. The assembly includes monochrome photographic views and printed cards. Identifiable subjects include London landmarks, notably the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, as well as various coastal and rural scenes. Markings include the word POSTCARD printed in a serif typeface on the reverse of one card and the word Bournemouth in script on another. The lot contains a mix of unused stock and postally used examples with contemporary handwritten correspondence and postage stamps. The cards are issued by various unidentified commercial publishers.
Condition report:
The collection is offered in mixed condition. Signs of age-related wear are present throughout, including bumped corners, rubbing to the edges, and general toning of the card stock. Some examples show light foxing and occasional small creases.
