Lot 231: A Sterling Silver Novelty Pendant on a Snake Chain

A sterling silver novelty pendant and accompanying snake chain. The pendant is cast in the form of a stylised character figure, featuring a segmented, tiered body with chevron-shaped horizontal ribbing. The figure is depicted in a walking pose, wearing a brimmed top hat and carrying a curved walking stick or cane. The pendant is suspended from a flexible snake chain with a lobster claw clasp. The reverse of the pendant features an incised mark reading STERLING on the underside of one foot. The lobster clasp of the chain is struck with the fineness mark 925.
