Lot 11: An Abbeydale Bone China Chrysanthemum Pattern Cabinet Plate

A bone china cabinet plate of circular form, featuring a polychrome Imari-style pattern. The decoration is centred on a five-pointed stylised floral star within a white ground, surrounded by a complex arrangement of panels including iron red and black floral sprays with gilt highlights. The outer border consists of eight alternating sections: four featuring orange chrysanthemum blooms over a gold lattice ground, and four featuring stylised white and red floral sprays with gilt foliage. The plate is embellished with heavy gilt highlights throughout the design and along the rim. The base bears a printed red backstamp featuring a stylised crown symbol within a geometric crest, with the legend CHRYSANTHEMUM curved above. Below the crest, the marks read ABBEYDALE / DUFFIELD DERBYSHIRE / BONE CHINA / MADE IN ENGLAND. A small handwritten N is also present in gold enamel to the base.

Condition report:
The plate is in excellent overall condition. The surface enamels and gilding appear bright and well-preserved across the central medallion and border (photo 1). No chips, cracks, or repairs are visible to the rim or body. The base is clean with the printed backstamp remaining clear and legible (photo 2).
