A 1950 UK proof coin set, presented in a rectangular red leatherette case. The set includes a half-crown, two shillings, two distinct one shilling pieces (English and Scottish designs), a sixpence, a brass threepence, a penny, a halfpenny, and a farthing. Each coin obverse features the left-facing portrait of King George VI with the struck legend GEORGIVS VI D : G : BR : OMN : REX F : D :. The reverses include a crowned cruciform shield for the half-crown, a crowned rose for the two shillings, crowned lions for the shillings, a crowned royal monogram for the sixpence, a Tudor rose for the threepence, Britannia for the penny, the Golden Hind for the halfpenny, and a wren for the farthing. All coins bear the struck date 1950. The red leatherette case lid features a gilt-stamped crest above a banner reading ROYAL MINT. The interior consists of a black velvet-lined base with eight coin recesses and black pull-ribbons, with a light-coloured fabric lining to the inner lid.

Condition report:

The coins exhibit original luster with varying degrees of golden-brown and iridescent toning, most notable on the bronze and brass denominations. The obverses show some light surface tarnish and fine handling marks. The reverses display similar toning, particularly evident on the penny and halfpenny. The original presentation case shows minor exterior scuffing and wear to the corners, and the interior lid lining is slightly discoloured.
