Lot 191: UK 1995 Imperial War Museum Victory Commemorative Medallion

A 1995 commemorative medallion issued by the Imperial War Museum to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the end of the Second World War. The medallion features a proof-like finish with a stylised V for victory motif on the obverse, incorporating a laurel wreath and a central radiating star. The obverse is struck with the legend 1945 1995 and VICTORY. The reverse is not visible through the clear plastic protective capsule. The medallion is presented in a dark burgundy faux-leather case with gold pinstripe detailing. The interior lid is lined with cream silk bearing a printed silver-coloured logo consisting of a stylised XX pattern over the words IMPERIAL WAR MUSEUM. Accompanying the medallion is a yellow paper certificate of authenticity printed with VICTORY FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY 1945 – 1995 COMMEMORATIVE MEDALLION CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY, stating the item was issued by the Imperial War Museum, London, and is numbered NO. 462 of a limited edition of 500. No metal fineness stamps or hallmarks are visible on the medallion or packaging.
