Lot 168: A Trio of Wessex Mint 1 Gram 999 Fine Silver Bars

This lot comprises three rectangular 1 gram silver bars, two of which feature a black finish with silver-tone engraved decoration. The first bar depicts a leaping springbok above the text SPRINGBOK and WESSEX MINT 1 GRAM 999 FINE SILVER, with a circular mark containing the characters PM. The second bar depicts a figure on horseback slaying a dragon, with four heraldic symbols positioned along the left edge above the text WESSEX MINT 1 GRAM 999 FINE SILVER and a PM logo. The third bar, shown from the reverse, is finished in a polished silver tone and bears the inscription FINE SILVER 999,9 1g above a stylised Maltese cross, further marked MALTA 5 EUROCENTS 2023. A boxed mark at the base reads MADE IN GERMANY beside a circular logo.

Condition report:
The bars show signs of handling and environmental exposure. The two black-finished bars exhibit significant scuffing and loss to the surface coating, particularly around the edges and raised lettering (photo 1). The silver-tone bar displays numerous fine surface scratches, contact marks, and visible spotting or oxidation across the reverse field (photo 1). All pieces exhibit handling marks and edge wear. No protective capsules or original packaging are supplied.
