Lot 62: A Singer Model 66K Treadle Sewing Machine with Wooden Cabinet

This auction ended on 3 October 2026.

Start price: £10

Buyer's Premium: 18%

Sold for: £5

A manual treadle sewing machine featuring a cast metal head with a black enamelled finish. The head is decorated with the Lotus pattern, comprising stylised floral motifs in green, orange, and gold tones. A brass badge is affixed to the pillar, featuring a central logo of a shuttle and needle, surrounded by the text THE SINGER MANFG. CO. and TRADE MARK. A stamped metal plate at the base of the machine reads F 9 1 9 5 2 0 1. The machine is mounted within a finished wooden cabinet featuring a fold-out extension leaf and two side drawers with wooden knobs. The cabinet is supported by an ornate scroll-style metal treadle base, featuring a foot pedal and a large drive wheel, with the name SINGER cast into the central cross-brace. A leather drive belt connects the drive wheel to the machine head.

Condition report:

The enamelled finish on the machine head shows significant wear, surface grime, and thinning to the decorative decals, particularly on the base plate and the front of the pillar. Surface oxidation and rust are visible on the needle bar area, tension assembly, and chrome-plated components. The wooden cabinet shows various scratches, water spots, and finish loss across the top surface, and the left drawer sits unevenly. The metal base exhibits surface rust throughout, notably on the foot pedal and lower legs. The mechanical working order is untested, and the aged leather belt may require replacement for operation.
