Lot 575: Two Static Model Diesel Locomotives, Santa Fe and New York Central
Sold for: £2
This lot comprises two static model diesel locomotives mounted on plastic display track bases. The first locomotive is finished in a blue and yellow livery with the text SANTA FE printed in yellow along the side. The cab side bears the number 5008. This model is mounted to a black plastic display base which features an embossed legend reading BB 22200 (SNCF). The second locomotive features a dark grey finish with white stripes and NEW YORK CENTRAL lettering. The number 4200 is printed below the cab window. The models are constructed from plastic with metal components used for the wheels and axles. Each unit features detailed plastic handrails, grilles, and roof-mounted fan housing. A clear plastic blister packaging tray is included with the lot. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the items.
Condition report:
The blue and yellow Santa Fe model appears to be in good order with the plastic handrails and roof fans intact (photo 1). The grey New York Central model shows visible oxidation and loss to the silver-coloured finish on the bogies and wheels (photo 2). The plastic body of the New York Central unit remains complete. The included clear plastic blister tray is heavily crushed and deformed (photo 1). The Santa Fe model is mounted to a base intended for a different model type.
