A static display model of a Metropolitan Railway steam locomotive and matching tender, featuring a 4-4-0 tank engine configuration. The locomotive is constructed from pewter and is mounted upon a pewter track section with textured ballast and sleepers, all set on a dark wood-stained plinth with a decorative molded edge. The side tanks of the locomotive feature raised lettering reading METROPOLITAN 26. The tender is modeled with a simulated coal load. The underside of the wooden base features a black adhesive label with gold-tone printed text and a crown logo. The legend reads ROYAL HAMPSHIRE, THE METROPOLITAN, HAND MADE IN HAMPSHIRE, ENGLAND, SOLID PEWTER, and (C) 1997. No further maker’s marks or signatures are visible.

Condition report:
The model shows an aged patina throughout the pewter surfaces. Surface dust is visible, particularly within the textured coal load in the tender and the recesses of the track ballast. The wooden base exhibits minor scuffing and small chips to the finish along the lower edges. The printed label on the underside remains fully legible. No original packaging is present.
