Lot 514: A Beswick Palomino Gloss Horse Figurine
Not sold
A ceramic figurine of a horse, modelled in a walking or trotting pose with the head turned slightly towards the left and the mouth partially open. The piece features a high-gloss palomino glaze, with white accents for the mane, tail, and a blaze on the face, and a single white stocking to the near-foreleg. The tail is swept to one side, and the ears are depicted in an alert position. The underside of one hoof features a circular black ink stamp reading BESWICK ENGLAND in a curved arrangement. The figurine is constructed from glazed earthenware.
Condition report:
A prominent repair is visible at the junction where the tail meets the body, showing a clear seam and mismatched adhesive residue (photo 3). A small chip is present on the tip of the off-side ear (photo 1). The figurine exhibits general surface crazing to the glaze and minor shelf wear to the underside of the hooves.
