A dining suite in the Regency Revival style, comprising an oval extendable table and several matching chairs. The table features a D-end top with a molded edge and is finished with mahogany veneers. The construction utilizes a twin-pedestal base, each support consisting of a turned column set upon three out-swept reeded legs terminating in metal-capped feet. The tabletop is designed to extend, showing a central seam and internal housing for a leaf. The matching chairs are of an open balloon-back form, each with triple vertical splats and curved uprights. The seat pads are upholstered in a contemporary textile featuring a grey and white floral pattern. Cross-stretcher bracing is present between the chair legs for structural support. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The tabletop displays a high-gloss finish with a series of scattered surface scratches and minor white specks across the veneer (photo 4). The wood across the pedestals and chair frames remains structurally sound with light wear consistent with use. A dark liquid residue is present on the ground beneath the furniture, though it is not attached to the suite itself (photo 2). The contemporary upholstery appears clean and free from significant staining or fraying.
