A complete metal chess set featuring thirty-two pieces in two contrasting antiqued metallic finishes. The set is of a modified Staunton design, with the knights featuring detailed equine heads and the kings and queens topped with coronet-style finials. Each piece is constructed from cast metal and is fitted with a red felted base. The accompanying wooden board features a square-patterned veneer playing surface in light and dark tones, set within a dark wood frame. The pieces are housed in a red flocked vacuum-formed plastic tray within a cardboard presentation box. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the chess pieces, the board, or the presentation case.
Condition report:
The chess pieces exhibit minor wear to the metallic finishes and light fraying to the edges of the red felt bases (photo 1). One silver-tone rook shows a slight tilt at the neck (photo 1). The wooden board displays significant surface scratching, scuffing, and finish wear across the playing area (photo 1). The red flocked storage tray contains minor debris in the recesses (photo 4), and the outer cardboard box shows shelf wear, creasing, and fraying at the edges (photo 5).
