A collection of commemorative £5 coins and folders issued by The Royal Mint. The lot features the complete Countdown to London 2012 series, comprising four individual presentation folders for the years 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012, housed within a black slipcase. Each coin is struck in cupro-nickel with a brilliant uncirculated finish. The obverse of each coin features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley with the legend ELIZABETH · II · D · G · REG · F · D · FIVE POUNDS. The reverses depict various sporting and Olympic motifs relevant to each countdown year. The slipcase is printed with THE ROYAL MINT crest and the text COUNTDOWN TO LONDON 2012 £5 BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED COINS THE COMPLETE COLLECTION 2009 – 2012. Also included is a separate 2012 commemorative £5 folder for the Diamond Jubilee, featuring a portrait of the Queen in garter robes with the legend ELIZABETH · II · D · G · REG · F · D · 1952 – 2012. All coins remain in their original Royal Mint card packaging.
Condition report:
The coins exhibit original mint lustre with no signs of circulation wear. The obverse and reverse fields appear clean with no significant contact marks or environmental toning visible. The presentation folders and the outer slipcase show minor shelf wear and light creasing to the edges and corners (photo 1). All items are supplied in their original protective card packaging.
