A circular earthenware plate featuring a deep cobalt blue ground decorated with blossoming prunus branches in yellow with red centres and green stems. The central scene is enclosed by a border featuring a black and white lattice pattern. The reverse bears a black printed mark consisting of a lion standing atop a crown above a circular emblem containing two interlocking D characters, surrounded by the words MADE IN ENGLAND and ROYAL DOULTON ENGLAND. Below the mark is the registration number RNº 597783 I. The pattern code D 4365 is hand-painted in black, and the number 25 is impressed into the ceramic body. An additional illegible dark mark is present near the rim on the reverse.

Condition report:

The plate exhibits extensive fine crazing throughout the clear glaze on both the obverse and reverse surfaces. Staining and discolouration are visible trapped within the crazing on the reverse (photo 2). Minor surface wear and small firing imperfections are present. The rim has a slightly irregular hand-finished edge.
