Lot 200: A Set of Three Victorian Style Four Panel Softwood Interior Doors
Not sold
This lot comprises three reclaimed interior doors, each of solid softwood construction with a stained finish. The doors feature a traditional four-panel configuration, consisting of two vertical upper panels and two vertical lower panels divided by a central mid-rail. The panels are set within moulded stiles and rails. Each door is prepared for standard domestic hardware, with existing recesses for hinges and lock sets visible on the stiles. One door features a rectangular mortice cutout for a lock mechanism. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on any of the items.
Condition report:
The doors are in reclaimed condition and show signs of significant use and environmental exposure. The stained surface is heavily worn, with visible scratching, scuffing, and fading across all faces (photos 1 and 2). Splatters of white paint or plaster are present on the faces and edges of each door (photo 1 and 3). There is wood loss and splintering around the hardware recesses where hinges and handles have been removed. The bottom rails exhibit scuffing and edge wear from contact with floor surfaces.
