Lot 172: A Set of Glass Wine Goblets with Etched Greek Key Decoration
Not sold
This lot comprises a set of glass wine goblets, each featuring a U-shaped bowl supported by a plain cylindrical stem and a flat circular foot. The bowls are decorated with a wheel-etched or machine-engraved geometric meander, or Greek key, border. This central band is framed above and below by two fine zigzag decorative rows. The glass is clear and transparent with a polished finish to the rims and feet. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on any of the pieces.
Condition report:
The glasses show signs of light use consistent with age. There is surface dust and light scratching visible across the bowls and bases. One glass shows a small irregular mark or surface occlusion on the exterior bowl wall. The rims and feet appear free from significant chips or losses. No mineral clouding or glass sickness is visible.
