Lot 15: A Group of Limoges Porcelain Cabinet Plates and Telephone Figurine
Not sold
This lot comprises several items of Limoges porcelain featuring transfer-printed romantic scenes in the Rococo style after Fragonard. The group includes three circular display plates with scalloped, gilded rims and deep burgundy-red borders decorated with gilt foliate filigree and scrollwork. Each central vignette depicts a courting couple in a pastoral setting and bears a printed FRAGONARD signature. Also included is a novelty figurine in the form of a rotary-style telephone, finished in a matching burgundy-red glaze with a transfer-printed vignette on the base and a gilded handset and cradle. The underside of the plates features two printed marks: a green arched stamp with a sunrise motif over U / E / C / LIMOGES / FRANCE, and a black stamp with a crown above LA REINE / LIMOGES PORCELAIN / MADE IN FRANCE. The base of the telephone figurine bears an impressed mark reading LIMOGES / FRANCE.
Condition report:
The porcelain items appear in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. Minor surface rubbing is visible on the gilded handset of the telephone figurine (photo 1). The underside of the plate foot rims shows minor shelf wear consistent with display.
