Lot 85: A Birra Moretti Advertising Patio Parasol
A large commercial outdoor patio parasol featuring advertising for the Italian brewery Birra Moretti. The canopy is constructed from a heavy-duty red synthetic fabric, featuring a scalloped edge with white piping and a top wind vent. The canopy is mounted to a white-painted metal pole. The branding is printed in white across multiple panels, featuring the Birra Moretti logo which includes an illustration of the Baffo Moretti character and text. The legible printed legends include BIRRA MORETTI, L’AUTENTICA, DAL 1859, and drink. A graphic of a barley stalk is also incorporated into the design. No manufacturer labels or maker’s marks for the umbrella frame itself are visible.
Condition report:
The parasol is in used condition with visible signs of wear and environmental exposure. The red fabric canopy shows heavy dark staining, soiling, and marks consistent with mildew, particularly concentrated around the top vent and within the fabric folds (photos 1 and 2). The white printed graphics show minor areas of wear and loss. The white piping on the scalloped edges exhibits significant dirt accumulation. The white-painted metal pole has numerous surface scuffs, scratches, and small areas of paint loss with surface oxidation visible where the metal is exposed. The functional integrity of the internal rib structure and opening mechanism has not been tested.
