Lot 81: A Graduated 925 Silver Elongated Bead Necklace
A graduated bead necklace, constructed from 925 silver. The strand features a repeating sequence of polished metal beads, alternating between elongated ellipsoid or oval shapes and smaller spherical spacer beads. The design is graduated, with the largest beads positioned at the centre, decreasing in size towards the clasp assembly. The necklace is secured with a lobster claw clasp and a jump ring. On the clasp assembly, an oval stamp is present containing the numerals 925, indicating the silver purity. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The necklace shows signs of moderate wear and environmental exposure. Visible tarnish and patination are present throughout the strand, most notably in the recessed areas between the beads and around the clasp and jump ring (photo 2). The polished surfaces of the beads exhibit light scuffs and small indentations consistent with regular use. The clasp mechanism is intact and functional.
