Lot 54: A JAJ Pyrex June Rose Pattern Dinner and Tea Service
This lot comprises a comprehensive dinner and tea service constructed from white milk glass, decorated with the June Rose transfer pattern. The decoration features red rosebuds and blooming roses with green and grey foliage. The service includes dinner plates, side plates, saucers, tea cups, handled shallow bowls, a gravy boat, and an oval underplate, along with three small cups. Each piece is designed with a smooth, opaque white body. The bases of the items feature an embossed maker’s mark consisting of the letters JAJ above a stylised crown and a circular device, with the text MADE IN ENGLAND encircling the lower half. The marks are consistent with production by James A. Jobling & Co. Ltd.
Condition report:
The service shows signs of light surface wear consistent with age and use. Faint surface scratching is visible to the centres of the dinner plates (photo 2). The red rose transfer decals remain vibrant and largely intact across the set. No chips, cracks, or significant losses are visible in the provided photographs.
