Lot 295: A Five-Tier Plastic Utility Shelving Unit with Additional Shelving
A freestanding five-tier utility shelving unit constructed from molded black plastic. The unit features five rectangular solid platforms supported by vertical tubular columns that slot into fixed corner sockets. The assembly is modular, designed to be built by press-fitting the components together without tools. The lot includes one complete standing unit and a further stack of four disassembled shelves, which house their corresponding support tubes and feet nested within the trays. The platforms feature a textured surface and raised edges, while the support columns terminate in rounded feet. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The shelving unit displays signs of use and outdoor storage. There is visible surface wear throughout, including scratches, scuffs, and a white residue or dust across the plastic platforms (photo 1). A structural defect is present on the stack of disassembled shelves, where the plastic casing of one corner socket has a vertical crack (photo 2). The tubular supports show light abrasions from assembly and disassembly.
