Lot 284: A 1978 Birmingham Sterling Silver Commemorative Oval Pin Badge

A 1978 Birmingham sterling silver commemorative pin badge of oval form. The polished obverse face features an engraved open coronet above the Roman numerals XXV and a script monogram consisting of the letters B, J, and C. The badge is fitted with a horizontal pin and safety catch to the reverse. Four hallmark punches are struck to the reverse: the maker’s mark H.B in a rectangular frame, the anchor city mark for Birmingham, the lion passant fineness mark, and the lowercase date letter d. These marks correspond to the maker Herbert Bushell & Son Ltd and the year 1978.
