Lot 257: Three Specimen Jars Containing Copper Fragments
This lot comprises three glass specimen jars containing an assortment of copper fragments, including irregular nuggets, rounded pellets, and splash copper forms. The specimens exhibit a reddish-orange metallic luster with areas of purplish-pink iridescence and darker oxidation. Each cylindrical jar is constructed from clear glass with a slightly flared rim and is fitted with a cork stopper. The stoppers are topped with dark, circular caps of composite or wood construction. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the jars or the contents.
Condition report:
The specimens appear stable within the containers. The copper fragments show varying degrees of natural oxidation and tarnish across all surfaces (photos 2-4). The glass jars are clear with no visible chips or cracks. The cork stoppers and caps appear intact and functional.
