Lot 25: A Pair of Domed Patchwork Upholstered Footstools with Turned Wooden Feet
This lot comprises a pair of matching square footstools, each featuring a domed seat upholstered in a decorative patchwork of various fabric panels. The upholstery includes cream, pink, and burgundy velvet and brocade sections with diverse patterns including vertical stripes, floral motifs, and stylised foliate damask textures. The lower edge of the upholstery is finished with a continuous row of large, circular metal decorative studs with an oxidised finish. Each stool is supported by four dark-stained turned wooden bun feet, which exhibit visible wood grain and a polished finish. The underside of the stools is covered in a black lining fabric. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the items.

Condition report:
The upholstery shows signs of use including minor fraying at the stitched seams and loose threads to the embroidered sections (photo 2). Several decorative metal studs show surface oxidation and wear to the finish (photo 4). The turned wooden feet exhibit scattered scuffs, indentations, and significant loss to the dark stain, particularly around the lower turned rings and bases (photo 4). The fabric on the underside appears intact.
