The obverse features the crowned Spanish coat of arms, surrounded by the legend CAROLUS III D G HISPAN ET IND REX. The coin exhibits a corded edge and has been modified with the addition of a horizontal pin-back mechanism and a safety chain with a small pin, both constructed from white metal and attached to the coin surface.
Condition report:
The coin shows signs of environmental exposure and handling. The obverse exhibits significant toning and tarnish, particularly around the central shield and lettering, with surface scratches and wear consistent with circulation. The reverse displays heavy dark toning and tarnish, especially towards the upper rim. The jewelry conversion has resulted in surface damage where the pin mechanism is soldered to the coin, and the safety chain loop is attached at the upper edge. The pin-back and safety chain are functional. The coin is not supplied with a protective capsule or case.
