Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £5

Buyer's Premium:

This lot comprises an assortment of decorative figurines and ornaments, featuring a variety of subjects including anthropomorphic animals, character figures, and gnomes. Included is a composite figure of a boy with dark hair holding a vessel and bread, and a seated figure of an elderly man with a beard playing a violin. Also present is a resin figure of an elderly watchmaker or cobbler at a workbench, fitted with a magnifying loupe and a small clock. The animal figures include two ceramic cats in waistcoats and breeches, a stylized blue and white dog, a textured sheep, and a small robin. Decorative vessels consist of a ceramic lidded jar with a teal and white lozenge pattern and gold-tone accents, a white crackle-glazed vase with horizontal blue bands, and two miniature yellow-glazed tankards. Further items include three gnomes, one in a traditional red hat and two smaller stylized versions, and an ornate oval resin photo frame with scrollwork decoration. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the exterior surfaces of the items.

Condition report:

The collection shows varied states of preservation. The composition figure of the violinist exhibits significant paint loss to the hat, knees, and feet, and the violin bow appears to be chipped at the tip (Image 3). The large figure of the boy shows frequent paint chips and flakes across the hair, shoulders, and hands (Image 2). The traditional red-hatted gnome displays heavy paint wear and weathering. The white-glazed vase features prominent crazing throughout the upper body. Minor surface wear and dust are present across the remaining ceramic and resin pieces.
