Lot 214: A 925 Sterling Silver Circular Banded Agate Pendant
A circular medallion pendant featuring a large round cabochon-cut gemstone. The stone exhibits natural curved banding in varying shades of deep cobalt blue, medium blue, and an opaque cream-white section, characteristic of dyed banded agate. The gemstone is held by a simple loop bale with a tapered, rounded profile. The exterior of the bale is struck with a legible three-digit fineness mark reading 925, confirming the metal as sterling silver. The reverse of the gemstone is flat and polished to a smooth finish. No other maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The gemstone surface shows fine surface scratches and minor wear consistent with handling (photo 1). A small brownish inclusion or surface stain is visible on the cream-coloured section of the stone. The sterling silver bale is heavily tarnished and shows significant surface pitting and oxidation throughout (photo 2). No chain or additional packaging is supplied.
