Lot 16: A Royal Albert Old Country Roses Pattern Ceramic Trio
This lot comprises three pieces of fine bone china from the Royal Albert Old Country Roses collection. The group includes a trumpet-shaped bud vase, a footed two-handled urn-style vase, and a napkin ring featuring a hand-modelled applied rose. Each piece is decorated with the characteristic transfer-printed motif of deep red, pink, and yellow roses with green foliage. The vases feature stippled gilding to the rims, handles, and pedestal bases, while the napkin ring includes a gold-lined rectangular base. The base of the napkin ring bears a printed backstamp with the pattern name OLD COUNTRY ROSES in pink script above ROYAL ALBERT, BONE CHINA, ENGLAND in green block capitals. Below this is a copyright symbol followed by ROYAL ALBERT LTD 1962. No other maker’s marks or labels are visible on the vases.
Condition report:
The bud vase and two-handled urn show no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. The gilding on the rims and handles appears intact across all three pieces. The hand-modelled rose on the napkin ring is complete, though minor losses to the delicate petal edges are characteristic of this form. The ceramic bodies and transfer decorations remain in good condition.
