Lot 131: A 1996 English Moorcroft Pottery Vase, Rough Hawksbeard Pattern
A 1996 English pottery vase of pear-shaped baluster form, featuring a flared neck and a narrow stepped circular foot. The exterior is decorated with the Rough Hawksbeard pattern using the tube-lining technique, displaying stylised yellow flower heads and scrolling green leaves against a cream ground, with a deep blue base and matching highlights. The underside of the base bears the impressed marks MOORCROFT and MADE IN ENGLAND in green. Hand-painted marks in blue include a copyright symbol followed by the digits 96. Further hand-painted marks in green include a monogram appearing as the combined letters L and J, a character resembling the number 5, and a single vertical line. No signatures are visible on the item.
Condition report:
Fine all-over glaze crazing is visible across the cream-coloured sections (photo 1). The vase appears free from chips, cracks, or visible restoration. Minor surface soiling is present on the underside of the foot rim (photo 2).
