Lot 130: A 1999 English Moorcroft Water Cranesbill Vase, Shape 7/5
A 1999 Moorcroft vase of baluster form with a flared neck and rim, featuring tubelined decoration in the Water Cranesbill pattern. The stylised floral design comprises lilies and buds in shades of cream, yellow, and salmon pink with dark red outlines. The leaves and stems are rendered in tones of green, set against a cream-coloured ground with a blue-green wash to the lower body. The base bears an impressed mark reading MOORCROFT and MADE IN ENGLAND. Additional marks include a green-stamped date cypher in the form of a jug, a hand-painted brown copyright symbol followed by 99, a hand-painted character resembling a letter T, and a circular stamp containing the letters S over H. No other marks or labels are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The vase displays an all-over network of fine surface crazing within the glaze, which is a characteristic feature of the manufacture. A small dark firing inclusion is present on the cream-coloured ground of the upper body (photo 1). The item exhibits no visible chips, cracks, or restorations.
