Lot 54: A Hassenbrook School and Mobil Commemorative Athletics Medal
A circular metal commemorative medal, featuring a raised suspension loop at the top fitted with a single oval metal link. The obverse is struck with a central rectangular frame containing two figures in relief, depicted in a running stance. The legend below the frame reads HASSENBROOK SCHOOL. The reverse repeats the two figures in profile, with the wordmark MOBIL struck vertically within the frame to the right of the figures. The medal is of metal construction and exhibits a dark, iridescent surface patination. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the item.
Condition report:
The medal shows signs of environmental exposure and handling. The obverse displays widespread iridescent tarnishing and dark patination, with significant surface wear and loss of finish to the raised figures. The reverse exhibits similar heavy tarnishing and oxidation, with numerous small contact marks and fine surface scratches across the field and relief details. The suspension loop and link show wear and surface oxidation.
