Lot 49: UK 1981 Royal Wedding Silver Proof Crown Coin
A 1981 Royal Mint silver proof crown coin, featuring conjoined profile portraits to the reverse. The coin displays polished mirrored fields with frosted relief decoration and is housed in a clear protective plastic capsule. The reverse bears the legend H.R.H. THE PRINCE OF WALES AND LADY DIANA SPENCER 1981. The coin is presented in its original blue textured Royal Mint hinged case. A paper insert is included, bearing the printed text SILVER PROOF COIN COMMEMORATING THE MARRIAGE OF HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS THE PRINCE OF WALES AND LADY DIANA SPENCER IN 1981 and the Royal Mint logo in script.
Condition report:
The coin is in excellent condition with a sharp strike and original lustre. The reverse fields are bright with no visible toning, milk spots, or surface marks. The clear protective capsule shows light surface scratches. The blue textured case is well-preserved, though the internal paper insert displays several small brown foxing spots to the left side (photo 1). The original case, capsule, and insert are supplied.
